INSTALL, REMOVE, BACKUP AND RESTORE A FIRMWARE IN MULTIBOOT

NEW! FlashWizard PRO introduces new important features:

- FlashWizard PRO is now a standalone program: you don’t need to install DreamFlash for having images on multiboot.
FlashWizard PRO installs the images on /mnt/usb/fwpro/ and /hdd/fwpro/

-
Installs images on Usb Stick and/or Hard Disk, even used together: the installed images will be automatically recognized at boot time, and loaded from their install devices.

- Allow Boot Logo display (the boot picture) also for multiboot images!
To use this feature, you need >= 1.08 image in flash.
To change the boot logo of a multiboot installed image, you should change the file “bild” into the directory /root/platform/kernel/  (starting from the base root directory of the installed image: /mnt/usb/fwpro/<image_name>/ for usb stick images, and /hdd/fwpro/<image_name>/ for images installed on hard disk
.

- Can restore automatically all the settings for multiboot images and backups!
You can retrieve all your usual system settings when you install a new multiboot image or multiboot backup.
This feature works also if new installed image has compressed /var folder!

- Has his own 256 colors boot menu shown on reboot.

- Activates the  VCR SCART output at boot time, allowing display of the boot menu also through the devices connected to it (i. e. a video-sender connected to VCR out)

FIVE STEPS TO INSTALL AN IMAGE IN MULTIBOOT:

1)
Choose if the new image will be selected as the default image on the FlashWizard PRO boot menu by clicking on the "Set new image as default choice on FlashWizard PRO boot menu" button.

2) If you want to retrieve all your current settings on the new image, activate the "SmartSettings copy from active image" option.
When you reboot, after the install, the new image will be automatically initialized and set with all your usual system settings (favourites, channels, all antenna's parameters, lnbs and motor configuration, video, language, etc..)

3) Tell to FlashWizard if you wish to restart the dreambox automatically after finished to install the new image, click on "Restart the dreambox when finished" button.

4) Simply Drag&Drop an image file icon on the drag&drop panel (or use the Open Folder button).
If you have both an Hard Disk and a Usb Stick connected, the program will ask to you where do you wish to install the new image.

5) Flash Wizard does all the install job automatically. Just watch on the screen the install procedure being performed.
J
The image just installed will be shown on the boot menu at restart.
By pressing OK on the selected boot menu image, you will see its starting picture (boot logo) if available, then will start the loading.
To load the image without seeing the boot logo, press GREEN button on remote control (instead of OK).
When boot logo is displayed, to exit before the timeout expires (6-7 seconds) press GREEN button on remote control.

BACKUP AND RESTORE AN IMAGE ON FLASH MEMORY

The backup procedure allows to make a snapshot of Dreambox's memory status, that can be restored at any time reloading the backup file.
FlashWizard will compute automatically the best position for saving the needed temporary files, depending on the free space present on the installed device(s) on your system (Hard Disk and/or Usb Stick).
It is possible to restore a backupped image also on another Dreambox or another device: if you did a backup of an image that was installed on Usb Stick, you will also restore it on Hard Disk, and vice-versa.

Backup: select an istalled image on the images listbox, then press the button "Backup" to start the process that will backup and archive the selected firmware, all included: addons, plugins, and all other stuffs are actually present.
At the end of the procedure, FlashWizard will save the entire backup into a custom *.fwz file, named by you on the "Save backup as:" dialog box.

Restore: drag&drop a *.fwz backup saved file on drag&drop panel, or select a file using the open file button.
At the end of the restore, the restored image will be added to the images listbox, at the end of the list, and of course all addons-plugins and other stuffs will be restored automatically, just like it was when you did the backup.
To start the new image, reboot Dreambox and select it on the images menu at boot.

MANAGING INSTALLED IMAGES

STATUS

The two icons that you will see on the feft and right side of the images listed on the listbox mean:

RED ARROW: (on the left side) point to the actually loaded and activated image on the dreambox.
GREEN "R": (on the right side) point to the image that will be automatically selected on the FlashWizard PRO boot menu (this selected image will be loaded automatically when dreambox will be rebooted).

This way, you can easily select an image as default choice on next reboot, having it loaded automatically without the need to use the dreambox's remote control.
"
Boot" is the button that changes this default image property, it is placed under the image listbox.

RENAMING AN IMAGE

To rename an image, select it on the listbox, then press the "
Rename" button on the bottom.
22 characters maximum are allowed for image name.
